President Bola Tinubu has urged newly commissioned officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces to remain disciplined, professional and committed to defending Nigeria, saying the nation is counting on them.
Represented by Speaker of the House of LjRepresentatives Tajudeen Abbas at the Nigerian Defence Academy’s Combined Passing Out Parade in Kaduna on Saturday, the President said the officers must uphold the Constitution, protect citizens and serve with honour.
The ceremony marked the graduation of cadets from the 73 Regular Course, Short Service Course 49 (Army), Direct Short Service Course 34 (Air Force) and Branch Commission Course 3 (Air Force), officially beginning their military careers.
Tinubu praised the NDA for strengthening its training with modern counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency programmes, improved technology and international partnerships to prepare officers for today’s security challenges.
He reminded the graduates that military service demands courage, integrity, discipline and selfless sacrifice as Nigeria continues efforts to tackle insecurity and protect national unity.
The colourful parade attracted top government and military officials, including the Chief of the Air Staff, senior defence leaders and members of the officers’ wives associations, as families celebrated the graduates’ achievements.
