Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has generated N27.1 trillion in the first seven months of 2026, moving closer to its N40 trillion revenue target for the year.
The agency’s latest report showed it collected N21.6 trillion in the first half of the year, representing a 49 per cent increase from the N14.27 trillion recorded during the same period in 2025.
The strong performance has been linked to ongoing tax reforms, improved digital tax administration and changes in oil revenue remittances.
The figures also indicate that about N5.5 trillion was collected in July alone, reflecting continued growth in government revenue generation.
The Federal Government believes the reforms will widen the tax base, improve compliance and boost domestic revenue needed to fund national development.
Despite the impressive performance, officials say revenue growth will be closely monitored as the government pushes to meet its 2026 target while addressing its financing needs.
