For many residents of Kaduna, the countdown to the 2027 presidential election has moved from political discussions to reality as preparations gather pace for the official launch of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the state.

The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has set up a Local Organising Committee (LOC) and several subcommittees ahead of the October 24, 2026, campaign flag-off, a move expected to bring together thousands of party supporters, volunteers, traders and political stakeholders.

The party said Governor Uba Sani approved the appointments to ensure the smooth coordination of what will be the first major APC campaign rally ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the LOC, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the party announced that the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, will chair the committee responsible for coordinating all activities leading to the event.

According to the statement, members of the various committees have been formally notified of their appointments and assigned specific responsibilities to ensure the success of the campaign opening.

The party also disclosed that an inaugural meeting of committee chairmen, deputy chairmen, secretaries, assistant secretaries and members of the LOC Secretariat was scheduled for Monday, with the venue and time to be communicated separately.

The statement urged all appointees to approach their responsibilities with dedication and urgency.

It stated: “All concerned appointees are requested to make themselves available and accord their assignments the urgency, dedication and commitment required to ensure the successful hosting of this important event.”

Beyond politics, the campaign is expected to boost economic activities in Kaduna, with transport operators, food vendors, hotels and small businesses likely to benefit from the influx of party members and visitors expected for the rally.

The October 24 event will officially kick-start the APC’s nationwide presidential campaign ahead of the 2027 general election, signalling the beginning of what is expected to be an intense political season across Nigeria.
