Eight Zamfara State lawmakers who recently left the All Progressives Congress (APC) have returned to the party after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House.

The lawmakers, who were led to the presidential meeting by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, resolved to remain in the APC and work for the success of the party ahead of the 2027 general election.

The meeting was also attended by a member of the House of Representatives, Aminu Sani Jaji, as part of efforts to strengthen unity within the Zamfara chapter of the ruling party.

The lawmakers had resigned from the APC a few weeks ago, leading to speculations that they were planning to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), an opposition platform expected to play a major role in the next election cycle.

However, following discussions with President Tinubu, the lawmakers decided to shelve the

planned move and return to the APC, while efforts are being made to address their concerns.

The development is seen as a boost for the APC in Zamfara, where political parties are already positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.

The lawmakers who returned to the APC include Aliyu Ango Kagara representing Talata Mafara South; Ibrahim Tukur Bakura (Bakura); Faruk Musa Dosara (Maradun I); and Bashir Abubakar Masama (Bukkuyum North).

Others are Muktaru Nasiru Kaura (Kaura North), Nasiru Abdullahi (Maru North), Bashar Bello (Bungudu West), and Bashar Aliyu (Gummi I).

The return of the lawmakers further strengthens the APC’s presence in Zamfara State and highlights ongoing efforts by party leaders to resolve internal disagreements ahead of the 2027 political contest.
