The family of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, has announced his death at the age of 71.
The former governor passed away on Monday morning, according to a statement issued by the family and signed by Toju Anire Uduaghan.
The family described his death as a painful loss to his relatives, the people of Delta State and Nigerians who followed his years of public service.
Uduaghan, who governed Delta State from 2007 to 2015, was a medical doctor and politician who spent several years contributing to the administration and development of the state.
Before becoming governor, he served as Delta State Commissioner for Health between 1999 and 2003 and later became Secretary to the State Government from 2003 to 2007.
During his tenure as governor, Uduaghan focused on areas including infrastructure development, healthcare delivery and other policies aimed at improving the lives of residents across the state.
The family described him as a father figure, a source of strength and a respected elder whose impact would continue to be remembered by those who encountered him.
“He was a beloved brother and uncle, whose memory and legacy will remain cherished,” the family said.
The family also prayed for God’s comfort for his loved ones, friends, associates, former colleagues and all those mourning his death.
