Lisandro Martínez has apologised after meeting Michael Carrick and Manchester United’s leadership over his public criticism of the club.

The defender had questioned United’s recruitment strategy after the 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid.

Martínez admitted he spoke out at the wrong time and apologised for his comments.

He said his words did not help the team and accepted responsibility for the controversy.

The Argentine added that everyone at Manchester United is now focused on staying united and winning together.
