For many families in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State, floodwaters have turned daily life into a struggle after several communities were submerged.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has launched search and rescue operations to help residents affected by the disaster.
The operation covered Edakabawa, Ehebechi, Ehuruma, Edagachi, Adimbeku and Ogoh communities.
Flooding has disrupted movement, threatened homes and exposed many residents to danger.

NEMA said the rescue mission is aimed at saving lives and providing support to vulnerable people.
The agency is working with the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA), the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), the Nigerian Red Cross and the Local Emergency Management Committee.
Officials from the agencies jointly assessed the situation in the affected communities.
They also coordinated rescue efforts to reach residents cut off by the flood.
The agencies said working together has improved the emergency response in the riverine communities.
Residents have been advised to remain alert as floodwaters continue to pose risks.
NEMA urged people living in flood-prone areas to obey safety warnings issued by emergency authorities.
The agency said taking early precautions could help prevent further loss of lives and property.
